Kedartal Trek

Kedartal is a very popular place in the Indian subcontinent. It is also known as the Shiva’s Lake. This glacial lake is also the highest lake in the state of Uttarakhand. The lake is located at an elevation of 16,115 ft above the mean sea level in the Uttarkashi district. The place is highly nurtured with Hindu mythology and carries within it immense significance of Indian history and holiness. The surrounding views have peaks like Mt Thalay Sagar, Meru, Mt Bhrigupanth, Manda Parvat, Mt Jogin and other pinnacles like Mt Gangotri embedded in the circumference as well. These mountains are a source of the Kedartal River which is known to be Lord Shiva’s contribution to River Bhagirathi, another main stream of Ganges in the country. The trail of the Kedartal Trek stretches for about 38 km scheduled to be completed in 7 days which accounts for approximately 6 km of trekking every day.
